Top3 Tattoo Kits For Beginners in 2024

Why tattoo kit is the best choice for beginners?

Beginners in any industry want to spend the least money to buy the most suitable product, and the tattoo industry is no exception. For beginners, they don't know which accessories they need. Therefore, for those who have just entered the tattoo industry, the tattoo suit is a very good choice. By reviewing and objectively analyzing all the tattoo kits on the market, I will recommend three kits. The three tattoo kits are most suitable for beginners. I would like to help you determine the most suitable tattoo equipment for you. There are many types of tattoo guns. From a technical point of view, the most common are shader guns and liner guns (the lining is the outer line of the tattoo design, and the shader is the filling of the tattoo).

From a mechanical point of view, there are two main types: coil tattoo machines and tattoo pens. Let us understand the difference between these tattoo kit types. To become a good tattoo artist, you need to learn the meaning of each tattoo. And the advantages and disadvantages of each type of tattoo gun kit.

The difference between the liner machine and the shader machine?

Liner tattoo machines are used for tattoo outlines and black works, while shader machines (as the name suggests) are used for coloring work and coloring. They use different needle groups. A liner tattoo machine often uses round liner tattoo needles, while the shader gun use magnum tattoo needles, similar to a comb (this will help coloring and coloring ). Moreover, the speed of the liner gun is generally higher than that of the color gun. In a complete tattoo kit, there are always 2 machines.

On the other hand, because the shader tattoo machine uses larger needles to penetrate the skin, however, the machine is weaker, and therefore, it needs more power to make the needles move in a vigorous continuous flow. In order to provide sufficient electromagnetic power, shader tattoo machines are usually weightier. Every tattoo artist needs to be accustomed to using two machines at the same time. For, the lining and coloring gun are essential in the tattoo art process. Therefore, they get used to the "heavy and powerful" feel of the shader and the lightness and speed of the bushing tool.

Types of Tattoo Kits

There are a number of types of tattoo guns, the most common from a technical point of view are the shader gun and the liner gun (lining is the outer line of the tattoo design and shader is the filling of the tattoo). But, it’s from a technical standpoint. From a mechanical point of view, there are 3 main types you need to know about: coil tattoo machine, rotary tattoo machine, and a pneumatic tattoo gun. Let's learn about the difference between those tattoo kit types. To be a good tattoo artist, you need to learn which one is suitable for each situation and the pros and cons of each of the tattoo guns kits.

1. Coil tattoo machine kits

The coil tattoo gun is the most common gun type for tattoo artists, beginners, and professionals. When two are standard coils and one has three coils, it has a different coil arrangement. The mechanical principle of the coil gun is an electromagnetic coil, which allows the needle to move up and down and perform tattoo work. Using a spiral spray gun, the speed and power of the spray gun can be adjusted. Likewise, the coiling machine can perform lining or filling functions. A coil tattoo kit is not a bad choice for beginners. Therefore, in most cases, they use two packages-one for the liner coil spray gun and the other for the filling gun. In many cases, coil gun kits are the weapon of choice because they offer excellent customizability options, an acceptable learning curve, and excellent performance inlining and filling. If you search for available beginners from many tattoo kits, please choose tools based on coil mechanisms.

It is a good cheap tattoo kit to start with. It arrives with 2 guns for lining and for shading, a power supply, and much more. This tattoo kit will give you the practice you need for the real stuff. It teaches you how to hold the gun, put it in the power supply.

2. Pneumatic tattoo guns kit

In 2000, Carson Hill invented and patented pneumatic guns. A pneumatic machine gun uses an air compressor to make the tattoo needles go up and down. Also, it's extremely lightweight compared to the coil and rotary machine guns. A pneumatic gun kit can be cleaned and sterilized without disassembly (compared to other kits, which need to be taken apart). It's important to mention, that those kits and the whole tattoo supplies package are pretty expensive. However, their "tattoo feeling" is pretty distinct from the classic coil guns and the rotary machines. Because of those reasons, many choose to avoid pneumatic tattoo kits.

3. Tattoo pen kit

One of the most successful and recommended tattoo kits for enthusiasts and beginners. It provides a set of tools and accessories and everything you need to start learning and practicing the tattoo art word. Also, it's a very affordable tattoo gun kit and is considered one of the best tattoo kits for beginners.

Should I get a BNWO tattoo (Queen of Spades)?

Should you get a BNWO or Queen of Spades tattoo? Here's what you should carefully consider:

Know what it really symbolizes
The “Queen of Spades” tattoo and the BNWO symbol are not just aesthetic choices — they are deeply connected to subcultures involving interracial cuckold fantasies, dominance/submission dynamics, and adult lifestyle signaling. These symbols are well-known in certain fetish communities and may be instantly recognizable, especially by those familiar with their meanings.

Social & professional consequences
Getting a tattoo with strong sexual or racial connotations may impact how others perceive you — including potential employers, colleagues, or even friends and family. In certain environments, it could be seen as inappropriate or controversial, especially if placed in visible areas.

Permanence vs. fluid identity
What feels empowering or edgy now might feel restrictive, embarrassing, or misunderstood later in life — especially if your views, interests, or relationships change. Tattoos are permanent statements; make sure they represent something you’ll stand by long-term.

Consider alternatives
If you’re drawn to the visual appeal or personal symbolism of the design, but are unsure about the social baggage it carries, consider a custom variation — a design that expresses personal empowerment or preference without being overtly tied to a specific subculture or stereotype.

Bottom line:
If you're fully informed, confident in your identity, and prepared to own what the tattoo says to the world, then go for it. But don’t get a tattoo like this without first understanding the meaning others will project onto it — especially in public or professional settings.

Comprehensive Evaluation Report of Wormhole tattoo pen

This pen is the latest tattoo machine for wormhole tattoos. Let me bring you a comprehensive evaluation. I also compared the tattoo machines of several other major brands on the market. And tell you the newest type of wormhole tattoo-Ares from the aspects of tattoo effect, machine experience, machine price, etc. Even in a work, a professional tattoo artist will often repeatedly change different machines and tattoo methods in order to obtain a better tattoo effect, so as to fully understand the advantages and disadvantages of the tattoo pen. Therefore, I invited our long-term wormhole tattoo partner, the famous professional tattoo artist-Ghost Hand. Through the practical operation, show us the advantages and disadvantages of this machine, and then compare with other machines he has used, so that everyone can clearly understand how to choose a tattoo pen.

Tattoo Pen Kit with 5 Tattoo Ink

The following are evaluations from professional tattoo artists--Ghost's hand:

Structure: High-frequency high-precision motor + inclined plate transmission + spring return rod + I-shaped hard steel transmission rod. Form: The pen-like form is its biggest advantage. It has no direction (it is also recommended to use a straight head as a connecting line), and there are no restrictions on the front and rear and holding positions, so the direction of the technology is completely unrestricted and becomes more abundant, and the machine is relatively thin (25 mm in diameter) and Lighter (130 grams), and the posture of the handle is very stable. The tattoo artist can use the ability to hold a pen and a pencil so that various techniques can be easily used in the tattoo process. But this is also because it is lighter, relatively speaking, it does not have a strong hand feeling, nor does it have that very stable feeling. During slow penetration, a little hand power is needed to control the penetration depth. Strength: Its strength is relatively moderate, and more often it needs to be compensated by hand pressure or the high-frequency speed of the machine. Frequency: Its frequency should be the fastest. At a frequency of 12 volts, it feels that its penetration has reached 100 times per second. Soft and hard. Relatively moderate, a little harder. The coloring is clear, and the transition is not smooth enough. Stroke: 3.5mm, which basically meets all puncturing methods.

The tattoo machine works continuously for about 6 hours and is still very stable, and there is no weak heat.

(tattoo needles)

(tattoo accessories)

To sum up:

Advantages: pen style, rich technology, lightweight, fast speed, relatively medium and soft strength, hard piercing feeling, faster coloring. Disadvantages: The transition of the mask is not smooth, and piercing a uniform mask requires some experience. Secant is relatively difficult, and the speed of the hand cannot be too fast. There is no doubt that this is a very cost-effective tattoo pen. The machine is basically a universal type. Very good in every way. It can be fast or slow. When used steadily, there is nothing impenetrable, this is the best usage. Easy, if you just want to impress the world with a tattoo machine, I would definitely recommend this pen!

The Difference Between A Tattoo Machine And A Tattoo Pen

tattoo

Tattoo machines and tattoo pens

Tattoo machines and tattoo pens in addition to their appearance are obviously different, their construction and transmission are also different. The tattoo machine is summarized as a traditional tattoo machine, also called a coil machine. It uses the principle of electromagnetism to move the needle up and down by spraying and sucking the solenoid. The tattoo pen drive mode is motor. It drives the drive rod through the motor and then drives the needle up and down to make the power more evenly.

New_Design_Coil_Tattoo_Machine

The needles used by the two machines are different. Traditional tattoo machines have long needle handles, relatively inexpensive needles, and short needles for tattoo pens, which are easy to replace and are slightly more expensive.

Cartridge needles for tattoo pens

Both machines have their advantages and disadvantages. The traditional machine needles are well-colored and controlled, making light transitions natural and easy to master with traditional large-area coloring. The disadvantages are the change of needles, the troubles of adjusting the machines, the weight of the machines, and the poor control of the machines. They are divided into two types: secant shade and shading. At least two or more machines are required to work. Because there is no shrapnel, the wormhole tattoo pen is strong in the skin, and it is easy to have a needle mark in a light color. It needs a certain skill and time to adapt. But the body is light and easy to change needles, an excellent wormhole tattoo pen can be suitable for a variety of styles. The wormhole tattoo pen is also the future trend of tattoo tools. After all, relative to others, easy to operate and improved work efficiency is the trend.

If you want to buy the related equipment, please contact the wormhole as soon as possible.

How do you remove semi-permanent tattoo ink?

To remove semi-permanent tattoo ink, there are a few methods you can consider. The best approach depends on how deep the ink has settled into the skin and the type of ink used. Here are some common techniques:

Laser Removal: This is the most effective method for removing semi-permanent tattoos. A laser breaks down the ink particles in the skin, which are then naturally eliminated by the body. This process typically requires multiple sessions, and the skin may need time to heal between treatments.

TATTOO REMOVAL

Saline Tattoo Removal: This is a more gentle method compared to laser removal. A saline solution is tattooed over the existing design, and the ink is pulled out of the skin through osmosis. While it can be effective, it may require several treatments to achieve desired results.

tattoo supply

Chemical Exfoliation: This involves using specific acids to exfoliate the outer layer of the skin, gradually fading the tattoo. This method works best for tattoos that are more superficial, but it may cause irritation or scarring if not done properly.

tattoo kits

Microneedling: Some people use microneedling in combination with removal creams to help break down ink. The tiny needles create microchannels in the skin, allowing the cream to penetrate deeper and help lift the ink particles.

tattoo needles

For those who may be interested in tattooing with more control and precision, products like WormholePro's tattoo machines, designed for consistency and reliability, can help ensure high-quality results, reducing the need for frequent touch-ups or removals in the future.

While these methods can be helpful, it's always recommended to consult a professional who specializes in tattoo removal to ensure the safest and most effective outcome.

What If Tattoo Machine Not Working?

Do you have tried tattoos yourself? If yes, you may get the problem that the tattoo machine doesn’t work after you set it up perfectly. You may also be tired to send videos and images to the seller. However, if you know how to fix a tattoo machine, the tattoo kit will work. A “broken” tattoo machine is the main reason that a tattoo kit cannot work. Before learning how to fix a tattoo machine, you must know the names of coil tattoo machine accessories.

Tattoo Coil Machine

How to fix it when your tattoo machine not working?

Check and adjust your machine as I said below.

In scene I, the contact screw doesn’t touch the armature bar, so the machine has no power. As a result, the tattoo machine never works.

Solution: adjust the contact screw. And make it touch the armature bar. But how to make it? Step 1, use an Allen key (there are 3 Allen keys in each tattoo gun kit) to loosen the screw (let me call it B) of the binding post, Step 2, adjust the contact screw location, and make it touch the armature bar as the image shows. Step 3, tighten the 2 screws ( both A and B).

Tattoo Gun Kit with Tattoo Ink

Scene 2, my contact screw touches the armature bar, but the tattoo machine still does not work.

Tattoo Gun Machine for Liner

Solution: step1, please press the armature bar, if the contact screw still touches the armature bar, it means you didn’t adjust the contact screw properly. Step 2, Unscrew the 2 screws ( both A and B), adjust the contact screw again, and don’t tighten the screws completely, just adjust it slowly and patiently. Step 3, press the armature bar again, if the space between the contact screw and spring is 2mm (like the image shows), then congratulation, you make it finally. If space is less or more than 2mm, you need to adjust the contact screw again.

Coil Tattoo Machine Liner & Shader

Scene3, my tattoo machine works for a while, but there is a spark. Or my machine just works for a while, then stops working.

Solution: The tattoo machine produces sparks or just works for 2 or three seconds, it’s because the contact screw gives too much pressure to the armature bar, so resistance increases and the wear also increases, which results in sparks and stopping working. Also, please readjust the contact screw, and unscrew the contact screw a little bit. But please stop using a machine if its spring has heavy dents.

I’m sure I set up my tattoo kit perfectly, but it still never works. What should I do?

If you make sure you have fixed your machine properly, then you can contact and send a video to the seller. All tattoo machines from wormhole tattoo come with a warranty. Generally speaking, if the led light or led screen of the tattoo power supply is on, it indicates that the power supply works properly. It cannot be better if you have a new tattoo power supply, tattoo clip cord, or foot pedal, which can help you figure out what items are broken. Let's make a conclusion, make sure your contact screw is 2mm far away from the armature bar when you press it down. As image 2 shows. If the tattoo machine still not working after fixing it, please contact the seller.

Are Facial Tattoos Required for Mexican Mafia Members?

When discussing prison gangs like the Mexican Mafia (La Eme), one of the common stereotypes is that all members must have facial tattoos. However, while tattoos play a significant role in gang culture, particularly for identification and symbolism, having facial tattoos is not a strict requirement for Mexican Mafia members.

The Role of Tattoos in the Mexican Mafia
Tattoos are widely used within the Mexican Mafia to signify loyalty, rank, and criminal history. Common symbols include:
Mexican Mafia Members
  • The letter "M" or "EME" – representing "Mexican Mafia"
  • The number "13" (XIII) – signifying the 13th letter of the alphabet, “M”

Mexican Mafia

  • Black handprint – inspired by the Sicilian Mafia’s Black Hand symbol, sometimes inked on the chest
  • Eagle and serpent – referencing Mexican heritage and strength
These tattoos are often placed on the chest, arms, back, or even hands. However, the visibility of tattoos varies based on the individual's role within the organization.
Why Some Members Avoid Facial Tattoos
Despite the strong tattoo culture, not all members have tattoos on their faces. There are several reasons for this:
Avoiding Law Enforcement Attention – High-ranking members or those involved in organized crime outside prison often prefer a clean appearance to avoid immediate identification.
Maintaining a Low Profile – Unlike street gangs, the Mexican Mafia operates as a criminal syndicate. Members involved in drug trafficking, extortion, and money laundering may choose to blend in rather than stand out.
Prison Politics and Rank – Some senior members view excessive tattooing, especially on the face, as unnecessary or as something more common among lower-ranking members and associates.
tattoo accessory
Changing Trends in Gang Culture – While tattoos remain significant, modern criminal organizations emphasize discretion, with some younger members opting for minimal visible ink.
Tattoos as a Double-Edged Sword
For many members, tattoos are both a badge of honor and a liability. They serve as a sign of commitment within the gang, but they also make individuals easy targets for law enforcement and rival groups. In some cases, former members seeking to leave the gang even undergo laser tattoo removal to start a new life outside criminal circles.
tattoo equipment
Conclusion
While tattoos are deeply embedded in the culture of the Mexican Mafia, facial tattoos are not mandatory for membership. Many members prefer to keep their ink discreet to avoid unnecessary attention. Whether covered in ink or maintaining a clean-cut look, a member’s status in La Eme is determined more by their loyalty and criminal activity than by their appearance.

How can I make an inki for a temporary tattoo that will last for 1-2 weeks?

Creating an ink for a temporary tattoo that lasts 1-2 weeks requires selecting the right natural staining agents and safe application methods. The key is using semi-permanent dyes that penetrate only the uppermost layer of the skin (epidermis) and fade gradually as skin naturally exfoliates.

1. Suitable Ingredients for Long-Lasting Temporary Tattoo Ink

A. Jagua Ink (Best Natural Option)

jagua tattoo

  • Jagua (Genipa Americana) extract is a natural dye derived from the fruit of the Genipa tree.
  • Color: Deep blue-black, similar to real tattoos.
  • Longevity: 1-2 weeks, depending on skin type and aftercare.
  • How to Make:
    • Blend fresh Jagua fruit juice with a small amount of xanthan gum or aloe vera gel for better consistency.
    • Let the mixture ferment for 12-24 hours for maximum staining potency.
    • Strain and store in a sterilized airtight container.

B. Henna (Reddish-Brown Stain)

henna tattoo

  • Henna (Lawsonia inermis) powder mixed with acidic liquids (lemon juice, tea, or coffee) releases lawsone dye, which binds to keratin in the skin.
  • Color: Reddish-brown (not black; black henna often contains harmful additives).
  • Longevity: 1-2 weeks with proper care.
  • How to Make:
    • Mix henna powder with lemon juice until it forms a smooth paste.
    • Add a few drops of essential oils (eucalyptus, tea tree, or lavender) to enhance staining.
    • Let the mixture sit for 12-24 hours to allow dye release before application.

C. DIY Fruit-Based Ink (Alternative)

  • Blueberries, blackberries, or activated charcoal mixed with a binding agent like aloe vera gel or cornstarch can create a temporary stain.
  • Not as long-lasting as Jagua or Henna but safer than chemical-based inks.

2. How to Apply for Maximum Longevity

Prepare the Skin

prepare skin

  • Clean and exfoliate the area to remove dead skin cells.
  • Avoid applying lotions or oils before application.

Apply the Ink

    1. Use a fine brush, stencil, or squeeze bottle to apply the design.
    2. Let the ink dry completely before touching.

Let it Set

set up the tattoo

      1. Henna: Leave on for 4-6 hours or overnight for the best stain.
      2. Jagua: Leave on for 2-3 hours, then wash off with lukewarm water.

Aftercare to Extend Lifespan

        • Avoid excessive washing, scrubbing, or exfoliating the area.
        • Apply moisturizer or oil (coconut or olive oil) to protect the tattoo.
        • Avoid chlorine, saltwater, or excessive sweating for 24-48 hours.

3. Avoid Unsafe Alternatives

tattoo kit

  • "Black Henna" with PPD (para-phenylenediamine) is harmful and can cause severe allergic reactions.
  • Marker or pen ink is not formulated for skin use and may contain toxic chemicals.

Conclusion

For a 1-2 week temporary tattoo, Jagua ink is the best option for a realistic black tattoo effect, while Henna provides a reddish-brown alternative. Proper application and aftercare are key to maximizing longevity.

How to Protect a Fresh Tattoo from the Sun on a Lake Vacation?

It is best to avoid direct sun exposure after getting a tattoo, especially within the first month. Ideally, during the first month after getting a tattoo, you should stay out of the sun to ensure the tattoo heals properly, the colors set, and to minimize the risk of fading or infection.

  1. Avoid Long Exposure to the Sun
  • The skin of a freshly tattooed area is very delicate, and early sun exposure can lead to fading, blurring, and even sunburn.
  • The first 4 weeks are crucial for tattoo healing, and it's best to stay indoors or at least avoid direct sunlight during this period.
  1. Protection When Outdoors
  • Medical-grade transparent film (like Tegaderm or Saniderm) is the best option for covering your tattoo. These films are breathable, waterproof, and provide a physical barrier to protect the tattoo when you need to go outside.
  • Avoid regular gauze or band-aids as they don't allow proper airflow and can stick to the tattoo, potentially causing irritation or blurring.
  • Avoid using sunscreen on a fresh tattoo during the first month as the chemicals may irritate the healing skin.
  • Seek shade: Try to stay in shaded areas or use an umbrella or sun hat when outdoors to minimize direct sun exposure.
  1. Importance of Tattoo Fixation
  • Color Set: The tattoo will continue to heal and stabilize over the next 4-6 weeks, and sun exposure during this time can cause the colors to fade or become uneven.
  • Prevent Scabbing and Peeling: Sun exposure can dry out the skin and increase the likelihood of premature scabbing or peeling, affecting the final result of your tattoo.
In summary, it is best to stay indoors for about a month after getting your tattoo, avoiding sun exposure. If you must go outside, use a medical-grade film for protection, and wait until your tattoo has fully healed before resuming normal activities.

On our website, there are traditional needles and cartridge needles. Also, it is easy to distinguish them. A traditional tattoo needle comes with a long bar. Some ones come with a blue dot, which means sterilized. Traditional tattoo needles are designed for coil tattoo gun and traditional rotary tattoo machines.

A cartridge needle comes with a tattoo tip. In other words, a cartridge needle is something that combines tattoo needles and tattoo tip. Cartridge needles are designed for pen-style tattoo machines and cartridge tattoo machines.

Understand tattoo needles

1 Tattoo needle taper

1.1 Types of needle taper

A taper is the head part of a needle, calculating from where it gets sharpened to the tip. Tapers from 3 to 5mm are medium tapers. Shorter than 3mm are short taper, but no shorter than 1.5mm. A Long taper is a taper whose distance is 5 to 6 mm. Those with more than 6mm tapers, for example, 8mm, are called extra-long taper needles.

1.2 The difference between medium tapers and long tapers

The taper length influences how much ink is distributed from the needles. The longer the tapers are, the less ink comes out. Therefore, tattoo artists depend on this characteristic to choose appropriate types for different purposes. Medium taper needles allow a moderate amount of ink to come out, so tattooists often use them for thick lines or outside layers. More ink distribution means they can do the job more quickly. Moreover, more ink distributed also means less precision, which is suitable for medium or thick lines. On the other hand, long taper needles dispense a small amount of ink while working, appropriate for thin lines and details requiring extremely high precision and concentration. Therefore, tattoo artists need a long time for meticulous detail.

1.3 Medium taper pk long taper: which is better?

tattoo cartridges RL

Since each kind of needle has its purpose, it is difficult to state which is better. As mentioned, medium taper needles draw thick lines or layers because they allow more ink to come out, while long taper needles are more suitable for detailed tattooing. Tattoo artists may use one of the two kinds for different tattoo parts, not choose one over the other.

1.4 Should I choose long or medium taper needles?

Long taper needles can be used for making portrait tattoos, realism tattoos, and sketch tattoos. Medium taper needles will be a good choice when it comes to making traditional tattoos.

  1. Tattoo needle diameter and size

2.1 Diameter

Based on their diameter, needles can be divided into 4 popular kinds. #8 (0.25mm): used for details because it distributes slower ink flow. #10 (0.30mm): the most popular kind, suitable for any purpose. #12 (0.35mm): appropriate for thick lines, layers, and filling areas. #13 (0.40mm): suitable for filling and tattooing large designs

2.2 Tattoo Needle Types

According to needle grouping, tattoo needles can be divided into several kinds:

tattoo needles RL

RL - Round Liner

The pins on round liner needles are soldered in a round pattern and are grouped tightly.

Commonly Used for: Dot work. All lining work both bold and intricate. Script and lettering. Japanese. Traditional and neo-traditional. Geometric. Tribal. Samoan

RS - Round Shader

Round shaders are very similar to round liners except the pins are not placed as close together. They can also be used for colour filling and basic shading.

Commonly Used for: Some line work. Script and lettering. Basic shading and colour filling. Japanese. Traditional and neo-traditional. Geometric. Tribal. Samoan.

#12 M1

M1 - Weave Magnum

The Magnum shader needles are straight in a row, and the needle spacing is not close to each other.

Commonly Used for: Black and grey. All types of shading and colour packing. Colour realism. Japanese. Traditional and neo-traditional. Tribal. Samoan.

RM - Round Magnum/curved magnum

The Curved Magnum needle ( round magnums) is quite similar to the Magnum one, except that the arrangement of the needles forms a central arch.

Commonly Used for: Black and grey. All types of shading and colour packing. Colour realism. Japanese. Traditional and neo-traditional. Tribal. Samoan.

FL - Flat When it comes to the flat needle, the welded pins are linear across the needle bar.

Commonly Used for: Some line work. Small shading and colour packing. Black and grey. Colour realism. Japanese. Traditional and neo-traditional. Tribal. Samoan. Geometric.

Something you need to know before using

  1. Each needle is single-packed and single-use, and can not be re-usable.
  2. Do not use it on human skin once the plastic package is damaged.
  3. Please check the valid date on the package before using it. Contact the distributor for a replacement if they expired.
  4. Minors are not allowed to use any tattoo equipment without guardian permission.
  5. Please use professional tattoo ink (radiant colour ink) to tattoo on human skin.

How to judge whether a needle is good or bad?

There are several key points that indicate whether the needle qualified or not.

  1. Tattoo needles will penetrate into the skin, so they must be sterilized.
  2. The needle bar and needle tip must be hard. If not, needles will not penetrate into the skin smoothly.
  3. The needle tip must be sharp. If not, it will cause more skin damage.
  4. The tattoo needle soldering point should be clean and glossy.
  5. For the same tattoo pen, a qualified tattoo needle can deliver tattoo ink quickly, so it will avoid skin damage.

Final Thoughts

Q1. What brand of tattoo needle should I buy for my pen?

A1. It is recommended to use the same brand of needles as your pen. However, the wormhole tattoo pen can be compatible with most cartridge needles on market.

Q2. Why does my tattoo needle keep breaking?

A2. The material is bad or it is not soldered in a proper way.

Q3. How deep into the skin does a tattoo needle go?

A3. Tattoo ink should be delivered into the dermis layer, which is 2 to 2.5mm. By the way, it needs lots of practice to get the feeling of how deep is too deep.

Q4. What gauge are the most commonly used tattoo needles?

A4. #10gauge (0.30mm) and #12gauge (0.35mm) are commonly used. The smaller the gauge is, the more suitable it is for making detailed tattoos.

Q5. Are tattoo needles reused?

A5. No, each needle is singly used on human skin. If you are using them on fake skin, then they can be reused.

Q6. How do tattoo needles hold ink?

A6. Surface tension holds the ink in the tip and on the needle cluster. A small diameter needle delivers less ink than a larger diameter one.
