A Story of A Tattoo Artist

I am Ming. In China, many people think tattoo is terrible. A good guy shouldn’t get a tattoo on his body. Someone thinks tattoo is a mystery. In fact, tattoo has a long history in China. We can date it back to Zhou Dynasty. I think tattoo is a kind of culture, a culture that has been inherited for at least several thousand years.

I had never wanted to be a tattoo artist in my past life. I never tried to know myself, to know life, to know the world. I admit I like tattoo culture. I think tattoos are kind of masculinity. I have known tattoos for 5 years before I started learning how to tattoo. Even so, I didn’t intend to be a tattoo artist at that time. For me, tattoo was just a hobby. Then something happened, as a result, I became a tattoo artist. It is a bad feeling to take hobby as career.

To me, tattoo is just the same as music, sports and painting. First of all, it is a hobby, then a skill, later knowing this culture, and our understanding of the culture. It doesn’t mean that you have to become Da Vinci if you like painting; or to become Mozart if I like music; or to become Liu Xiang if you like sports. So I didn’t want to be a tattoo artist even if I like tattoos. Finally I became a tattoo artist due to some reasons.

All what I need to do is to treat each of my works, each client seriously when I pick up a tattoo machine. In order to reply the trust of my friends, I need to improve our skills constantly. I can have another identity to know the world, know life, and know myself when I put down the tattoo machines.

I want to wander, to see, to listen, to think about this world.

To improve my tattoo skills, I have practiced tattoos day and night. A tattoo kit may be a good choice for a beginner.
